CNN’s Acosta Confronts Spicer: How Can You Say Trump’s Been Tough on Russia?
Early on in today’s press briefing, Sean Spicer said that President Trump has been very tough on Russia. When CNN’s Jim Acosta got to ask a question, he asked, “How is that possible?”
Acosta brought up past comments of the president’s, especially what he said in response to a question about Putin being a killer, and told Spicer it seems to a lot of people that “this president has not been tough on Russia.”
Spicer maintained the administration’s belief that they want a good relationship with Russia, but they will still call Russia out. He pointed to the critical remarks Nikki Haley had for Russia at the United Nations.
Acosta pointed out that Haley is not the president. Spicer countered that she speaks for him.
